The Grounds

Sixty acres of gardens & shoreline

Extensive landscaped grounds with an arboretum, ancient walkways, an ornamental lake and two islands. The private foreshore opens onto Cashel Bay, with a sea pool and wood-burning sauna in the historic kelp house.

Beyond the gates, Cashel Hill rises to a 300-metre summit, offering panoramic Connemara views.

The house that inspired Ted Hughes

A separate Games and Reading Room holds tables for pool, chess and table tennis, as well as some four thousand books to choose from.

Whilst living at Doonreagan in the 1960s, Ted Hughes, former Poet Laureate, found inspiration for some of his finest work.

A picturesque fishing village known for its regatta, traditional music and the beaches at Gurteen and Dog's Bay. Also with a farmers' market and a Connemara pony show in July.

The house comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests across five generous bedrooms, with four bathrooms and four reception rooms — ideal for families and groups of friends sharing a week.
Full self-catering with a Lacanche range kitchen, a private foreshore with sea pool and wood-burning sauna, sixty acres of grounds, and a Games and Reading room with over 4,000 books. Independent on-site catering can be arranged on request.
